New Texans QB CJ Stroud 'Can't Do it Alone'

Despite adding several offensive players to the roster this offseason NFL.com says the Houston Texans didn't do much of anything to help rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.
In this story:

The Houston Texans made a splash in the first round of the NFL Draft by selecting Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick.

It turned out that was just the beginning as the Texans turned around and traded up for the No. 3 pick with the Arizona Cardinals to get Alabama Crimson Tide edge Will Anderson Jr.

Beyond that, however, the team doesn't appear to have done much else to help their newly added franchise quarterback.

At least not in the eyes of NFL.com's recent examination of teams that helped and didn't help their quarterbacks.

"C.J. Stroud can't do this alone," says NFL.com. "With Brandin Cooks gone, it currently looks like the No. 2 overall draft pick might have to. Nico Collins is promising, but after that, the Texans have little to count on in the way of reliable targets that would help a rookie quarterback gain his footing."

Houston isn't alone here, as the Tennessee Titans also didn't do much to help theirs and Madden 24 cover athlete Josh Allen got little to no help from the Buffalo Bills.

The New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, and Green Bay Packers are the four that helped their quarterbacks the most according to the league's site.

It's not like the Texans didn't do anything, per se, adding receiver Robert Woods, tight end Dalton Schultz, and running back Devin Singletary to the roster this offseason.

Apparently, it's not enough to impress NFL.com though, so it'll be on Houston to show observers that not only is their plan a functional one, but a soon-to-be successful one.
