Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud Sounds Off on Michigan Wolverines Sign Stealing Scandal
The Michigan Wolverines are in the midst of a sign-stealing scandal with the NCAA, and Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was asked about the drama during a press conference on Wednesday.
Stroud is the former quarterback of the Ohio State Buckeyes, one of Michigan's arch-rivals, and he never knocked off the Wolverines during his college days. Still, Stroud took the high road, not using this as an opportunity to throw the rival program under the bus. Instead, he just admitted that they got the better of him over the course of two seasons.
“They beat us,” Stroud said. “It is what it is. I’m not super happy with that, but man I’m in the NFL now. I’m not worried about what happened in college.
"We had an idea that stuff was going on but at the end of the day it is what it is. I’m not here to go back and forth with that. I’m a Texan now. It is what it is. I’m not tripping off that."
Michigan staffer Connor Stalions has already been suspended for his alleged role in this sign-stealing scheme, and during the Ohio State game, Stalions was caught standing next to Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter whenever Ohio State was on offense. When the Wolverines had the ball, however, Stalions stood next to co-offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore.
Ohio State will square off against Michigan on Nov. 25 in Ann Arbor.
Stroud is correct in saying that his focus is now on the NFL, and he has bettered his franchise as a result.
The Texans currently hold a 3-3 record after finishing last season with a mark of 3-13-1, and they will look to continue their winning ways this Sunday when they face the winless Carolina Panthers.
