How Valuable Will Texans QB Case Keenum Signing Be In 2023?
HOUSTON — The Houston Texans added several players who can help improve their subpar on-field production for the 2023 season.
The Texans added talent to the offensive side of the ball with the acquisitions of Dalton Schultz and Devin Singletary. Each player will add needed depth to an offense that averaged 17.0 points during the 2022 campaign.
According to CBS Sports, the free agency signing of quarterback Case Keenum was one of the Texans' best off-season moves. But the team did not sign Keenum to compete for the starting quarterback job for the 2023 season.
But his arrival in Houston will be as a trustworthy veteran at the position group to pair with Davis Mills and whichever quarterback prospect the Texans will select with the No. 2 pick of the 2023 NFL Draft — C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young.
Keenum signed a two-year contract to join the Texans following one season with the Buffalo Bills.
The 10-year veteran has thrown for 14,884 yards in 78 career games, to go along with 78 touchdowns and 48 interceptions. Keenum played for the Texans as an undrafted prospect from 2012 to 2013 out of the University of Houston.
He may not impact the Texans' record in 2023. But the advice Keenum will be able to share could be more beneficial, given that his teachings could help create a foundation for Houston's next franchise quarterback.
In the recent ranking, CBS Sports placed Houston's free agency signing of Keenum as the 10th-best quarterback move of the off-season.
