Texans' C.J. Stroud Rookie Card Sells For ... How Much?!
Even before Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans has named C.J. Stroud the Week 1 starting quarterback, there's enough hype surrounding the No. 2 overall pick that his rookie card fetched an astronomical sum in a recent auction.
A rookie premiere card featuring Stroud in a Texans jersey -- which the quarterback himself signed -- was sold for $6,750, according to PWCC Marketplace. In the video below, you can get a full look at what makes the card so special.
It may not be the Honus Wagner T206 baseball card in terms of value, but rarity clearly drove up the price for this card of Stroud. As mentioned above, it's the first card of him wearing a Texans uniform, and no matter how many seasons he plays in Houston, that will never change. Additionally, Stroud not only signed it, but the grading company Beckett gave his signature a 10/10 rating. And there isn't a second one floating around -- the person who placed the winning bid on this card of Stroud gained the only one of it in existence.
Stroud and defensive end Will Anderson Jr. -- selected second and third overall in this year's NFL Draft -- lead a rookie class that will almost certainly define the tenures of Ryans and general manager Nick Caserio. And if Stroud develops into one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks, he'll define the financial portfolio for this investor, who would likely see significant appreciation in the card's value, as hard as that may be to believe.
