Does Texans QB C.J. Stroud Have a Houston Diet Problem?

Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud might being enjoying the local food scene a bit too much.

Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud is the toast of the town after being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft.

Not only that, but he is, whether it is fair or not, expected to be the savior for a franchise that has struggled under center since the departure of Deshaun Watson.

And while Stroud is excited about that chance, he, by his own admission might need to get a few things in order off of the field - particularly his infatuation with the Houston food scene.

“I’ve gotten around in Houston a little bit,” Stroud said. “I’ve heard a lot of great things of course since I moved here, and the one thing that sticks out to me is the people. The people are very welcoming, very nice. The food is amazing. I’ve got to chill on some of the food because, you know, I’ve got to maintain my nutrition.”

Stroud, of course, is well aware of his health and what he needs to do to maintain his football body.

Still, Houston is known as one of the best food cities in America for a reason, making it a unique challenge for any athlete trying to stay in their best shape.

“I love soul food, so, I’ve got to chill on the fried foods,” said Stroud. “I’ve had a couple good spots. I love oxtail, so I’ve got to chill on the oxtail. But I haven’t had too much.”

Stroud is expected to win the starting job over Davis Mills by most prognosticators.

And if he can stay on track with his diet, it shouldn't be long before we hear a decision in that regard.
