'I'm Just As Hungry!' DeMeco Ryans Reveals Texans Offseason Mindset

Less than a month stands between the Houston Texans and the NFL Draft, but even before draft day, DeMeco Ryans and his team are putting in work to ensure their success.
In this story:

The Houston Texans are hungry.

Since the hiring of coach DeMeco Ryans, that narrative has been obvious. With numerous signings and offseason moves, the new-look Texans are just getting started, with each new player and coach only furthering the "winning mindset" that Ryans brought with him.

And now with offseason workouts officially underway, Texans fans got a first look at the behind-the-scenes of their new team, which has lofty goals.

"I know Houston is hungry for a winner," Ryans said. "Trust me, I'm just as hungry."

Being hungry oftentimes means wanting to win. Obviously, any NFL team shoots to win the Super Bowl, but for a team starting fresh with a new coach and new personnel, that may not be possible.

So what is the next step for Houston?

Having a winning season would be a good start. The Texans have not hit that mark since 2019, though they are not total strangers to winning.

Making the playoffs would be even better, though that would be quite the hill to climb.

Either way, Houston is looking and hoping for a much-needed change of pace from the last few years - one that involves winning games, and keeping its head coach for longer than a year.

But if Ryans has proved nothing else, he is prepared to take the Texans to the next level and keep them there.

"When we line up on the field on Sundays, I want to put a team out there that our city is proud of," Ryans said. "I love the excitement. I've surrounded myself with the right people, and I know we can get the job done."
