Cowboys Ex Noah Brown: 'Fresh Opportunity' With Texans
HOUSTON — Noah Brown had to wait until the seventh round before hearing his name called during the 2017 NFL Draft. The Dallas Cowboys made Brown the No. 239 pick, and though it took a while, he would eventually establish himself as a productive wide receiver.
But as Brown prepares for his seventh season, he will no longer have the chance to play for “America’s Team.” Instead, Brown will continue his career suiting up a few hours south from his former team as he’s now member of the Houston Texans.
"I was in Dallas for six years, I feel like I built a solid foundation of what I can do in this league there," Brown said. "Some of the things that went into being here — it was just a new, fresh opportunity."
Brown believes joining the Texans will allow him to expand his game. But the 27-year-old wideout also wants to be a part of Houston's rebuilding effort as a veteran who can help create a winning culture within the organization.
"We got a great young quarterback in C.J. [Stroud], another quarterback in Davis [Mills] — I’m looking forward to working with both of them,” Brown said. "I am from the get-go in-all in all aspects of the game. Run game, route-running, physical to the ball. An all-around player.”
The Texans acquired Brown at the start of free agency in March. He is coming off a career year after an injury to Michael Gallup and the departure of Amari Cooper led to Brown taking a turn as the Cowboys' No. 2 wide receiver.
He finished with a career-high 555 yards on 43 catches with three touchdowns. Brown's on-field contributions helped the Cowboys finish the regular season 12-5 while advancing to the divisional round. … and now he wants to replicate that success here.
“I feel like I can help this team in many ways,” Brown said.
