Ravens Promote Dalvin Cook to Active Roster for Playoff Matchup vs. Texans
The Houston Texans will get the first look at four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook as a member of the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday afternoon as the two teams battle for a spot in the AFC Championship Game.
The Ravens will be promoting Cook to their active roster before the game, his agency Loyalty Above All told ESPN's Adam Schefter. This would put Cook in line to appear in a game with the Ravens for the first time since joining their practice squad in late December.
Cook was released by the Minnesota Vikings in June, and caught on with the New York Jets on a $7 million contract for the 2023 season. The thought was he and quarterback Aaron Rodgers would help to put the Jets offense over the top to at least being a playoff-caliber unit.
As you now know, nothing went according to plan for the Jets in 2023, as Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles tear four plays into the season and Gang Green ultimately went 7-10.
Second-year running back Breece Hall returned from a torn ACL suffered in his rookie season and proved to be the top ball carrier for the Jets. Cook's limited stint with the team was very forgettable, as he rushed for just 214 yards on 67 carries, an average of just 3.2 yards per carry.

Still, Cook rushed for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns just a season ago with the Vikings. Perhaps the 28-year-old is no longer at the height of his powers, but he could absolutely become a postseason threat in a backfield that also includes Gus Edwards and Justice Hill.
Coach DeMeco Ryans and the Texans would be wise to prepare for Cook to be someone that quarterback Lamar Jackson and the Ravens mix in Saturday.
