Texans' DeMeco Ryans Named Good Morning Football Coach of the Week

A win on the road against the defending AFC South champions earned Houston Texans Coach DeMeco Ryans Good Morning Football's Coach of the Week award.

New Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans may have just started his head coaching career with his former squad, but he's already doing enough to garner national praise.

In a season when winning more than three games would be considered an improvement, Ryans had his work cut out for him.

Yes, the Texans had NFL caliber talent last season and competed in the AFC, but they were missing a few key aspects of their offense that would've translated to wins — one of which being a franchise quarterback. Now, rookie C.J. Stroud addresses that need, but at the same time, it isn't just on the player to make or break success.

That's where Ryans' impact comes in.

"The Texans were down four different offensive lineman Sunday, and went into Jacksonville ... and found a way to win." Good Morning Football anchor Peter Schrager said. "They put up their most points in two seasons ... and the defense also silenced Trevor Lawrence."

Good Morning Football named DeMeco Ryans its Coach of the Week after the Texans' 37-17 rout of the Jaguars, calling attention to the way Houston overcame its own injuries to take care of business on the road.

In three games this season, Ryans does have a losing record — the Texans sitting at 1-2 — but with each game, both sides of his team have shown noticeable improvements, which after a few weeks of adjustments, finally translated into a regular-season victory.

Ryans' recognition is well deserved, especially given the way that his players talked about him and his culture prior to the beginning of the season. And while a majority of the NFL didn't get to experience that firsthand, they're beginning to see it now.
