Texans Hire Chris Strausser As OL Coach, Ben McDaniels To Stay At WR Coach
HOUSTON — Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans is putting the finishing touches on his first staff. The Texans have added Chris Strausser as offensive line coach, according to KPRC.
Strausser is coming to the Texans after four seasons as the offensive line coach of the Indianapolis Colts. His hiring came following the jettison of George Warhop, who spent one season as the o-line coach for the Texans in 2022.
Ryans' staff will feature plenty of new faces on the sidelines of NRG Stadium next season. But a handful of coaches have survived the turnover under the new regime.
Ben McDaniels has maintained his role as Houston's wide receiver coach and passing game coordinator. McDaniels will be entering his third season with the Texans, where he has helped develop the talents of Nico Collins and Amari Rodgers.
"We talk about it a lot in the room that versatility – when I use that word, I really mean the ability to play not just one location or one spot," McDaniels said. "We’ve done a great job of bringing some people into that room that have intelligence and have the ability to play in different spots.
"I try to make it an emphasis as a coach in that room and make it very important, so they all believe it’s important too. I think it’s helped them have success."
In addition to McDaniels, the Texans have also retained Jacques Cesaire (defensive line coach), Dino Vasso (cornerbacks coach) and Frank Ross (special teams coordinator).
