Houston Texans, DeMeco Ryans Preparing For 'New Approach' Against Jacksonville Jaguars

The Houston Texans head coach isn't concerned about his team's previous win over Jacksonville. Instead, he's simply focusing on this week.

The Houston Texans may have picked up their first win of the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3, but head coach DeMeco Ryans isn't worried about the past. He knows what the Jags are capable of this week.

A win over Jacksonville would give the Texans a real shot at winning the AFC South, but that's not the focus either. Instead, it's simply going 1-0 this week.

“Our vision is winning the day and winning against whoever our opponent is that week,” Ryans said.

In the NFL more so than the college game, each week is an opportunity to win or lose, and Ryans knows that. He knows that even though the Texans dominated the Jags 37-17 earlier this season means absolutely nothing for this week's game. Both teams are different than they were in Week 3.

“Each game is different,” Ryans said. “It doesn’t matter what happened in our first game versus Jacksonville — it really doesn’t matter. They’ve grown, they’ve changed over the past few weeks, and we have as well, so each game I take it as it’s a new game, it’s a new approach each and every time we play an opponent.”

Of course, the first approach seemed to work well, but it would be foolish in the NFL to take the exact same game plan into another matchup against the same team. The Jaguars have grown, and they, not the Texans, currently sit in first place in the AFC South.

You can bet that Trevor Lawrence and company will want to right the wrongs made during the earlier portions of the season.

Kickoff on Sunday between the Texans and Jaguars is set for 12 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on CBS.
