Houston Texans' DeMeco Ryans Not Concerned with New York Jets' QB Situation

Entering Week 14, the uncertainty surrounding the New York Jets quarterback situation doesn't faze Houston Texans' DeMeco Ryans.

HOUSTON — The 2023 season has been a nightmare for the New York Jets. They are entering their Week 14 contest against the Houston Texans without a starting quarterback named, given that coach Robert Saleh is weighing his options.

But despite the uncertainty, coach DeMeco Ryans doesn't feel the Jets' indecision will have an impact on his team.

"Whoever plays, I am sure one of those quarterbacks has played this year at some point," Ryans said. "We will study the film. For us, it doesn't matter which quarterback plays. The focus is on us and improving where we need to improve."

One of Saleh's options could be third-year quarterback Zach Wilson. Following the Achilles injury to Aaron Rodgers on Sept. 11, Wilson was the starting quarterback for the Jets. But after 10 games, Wilson's horrific performance against the Buffalo Bills led to a benching in favor of Tim Boyle.

However, the Jets replaced Boyle for Trevor Siemian during Sunday's 13-8 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The Jets won three games with Wilson starting under center. But since his benching, New York has dropped back-to-back games with Boyle and Siemian at the helm.

"This week is all about us," Ryans said. "We will study the film and see who plays. We have a lot of stuff to fix and clean on our end. We will worry about our opponent on Sunday."

According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Jets are leaning toward Wilson against the Texans. But the former No. 2 pick is reluctant to step back in as New York's starter.
