'Exceptional!' Texans Coach DeMeco Ryans Praises Growth of Lamar Jackson, Ravens Offense
The Houston Texans face a stiff test on Saturday when they travel to take on the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, and head coach DeMeco Ryans believes that challenge has stiffened throughout the season.
The Texans and Ravens faced off in Week 1 of the regular season, seeing Baltimore come away with a 25-9 win at home. Since that point, Ryans believes the Ravens have improved as a team, particularly on offense.
“They’ve grown throughout the season as an offense,” Ryans said. “I feel like they’re much more efficient. Lamar [Jackson] is playing exceptional football. MVP-caliber football. He’s done a really good job, not only running the ball or making off-schedule plays but getting the ball to his playmakers.”
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is a legitimate MVP candidate this season after an elite campaign in Baltimore. Jackson threw for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns in the regular season paired with seven interceptions. He has also put up 821 yards and five scores on the ground, helping lead the Ravens to a 13-4 record and first-round bye.
