Texans Injury Report Update: Derek Stingley Jr. OUT, Nico Collins IN vs. Commanders
HOUSTON — The Houston Texans released their final injury report ahead of their Week 11 contest against the 5-5 Washington Commanders Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium.
According to the Texans, Derek Stingley Jr. has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury.
Stingley first appeared on the Texans' injury report on Wednesday after he was limited during practice, which forced him to miss the previous two sessions.
"He is competitive — I've been impressed with him up until this point," cornerbacks coach Dino Vasso said of Stingley's overall talent. "He doesn't have any physical limitations. He does have a few things that he does better than others. But he can do it all."
After the Texans drafted Stingley with the No. 3 pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, the LSU product has been fairly healthy following an injury-plagued college career.
Stingley's lone injury scare came during the Texans' Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
The injury occurred midway through the fourth quarter after Stingley made a tackle on Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams. He re-entered the game twice after two quick evaluations by the Texans' medical staff.
Stingley appeared in the Texans' 13-6 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars the following week, where he recorded his first career interception.
After appearing in each of the first nine games, Stingley has registered 43 tackles, five pass deflections and 1.0 sacks.
The Texans also listed Maliek Collins (chest), Nico Collins (groin) and Brandin Cooks (wrist/hip) on the injury report. All three players were full participants during practice and will be available against the Commanders.
Defensive lineman Rasheem Green also missed Friday's practice due to an illness. Green's status against Washington is questionable.
