Texans Legend Johnathan Joseph Joins Camp Staff

Former All-Pro cornerback Johnathan Joseph is among several participants who will join the Houston Texans' coaching staff during training camp.

HOUSTON — Coach DeMeco Ryans isn't the only former Pro Bowler in charge of helping the Houston Texans in 2023. As part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching and Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowships, former Pro Bowl cornerback Johnathan Joseph is one of several coaches added to Ryans' staff for training camp.

Joseph will serve as a defensive backs coach and work alongside current cornerbacks coach Dino Vasso and safeties coach Stephen Adegoke.

Joseph on the Texans' training camp coaching staff would give second-year prospects Jalen Pitre and Derek Stingley Jr. a mentor to help them reach their potential this season.

Joseph joined the Texans as a free agent in July 2011 and became one of the best defensive backs in franchise history.

He became a two-time Pro Bowler in his first two seasons. And while helping the Texans finish the 2012 campaign with a 10-6 record, Joseph received his All-Pro honor. Ryans played one season with Joseph before his free agency departure in March 2012.

The Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellowship began in 1987 to help increase the number of minority coaches in the NFL.

Joining Joseph during the Texans' training camp are T.J. Hollowell (defensive line/linebackers coach), Jerry Johnson (strength & conditioning), Darrell LeBeaux (running backs/tight ends coach), Jamarcus Nelson (wide receivers coach), Manny Ramirez (offensive line coach) and Zerick Rollins (special teams coach).

Darrius Darden-Box, director and recruiting at the University of Colorado, will join the Texans' scouting department.

Joseph played nine seasons with the Texans. He appeared in 133 games and recorded 482 tackles, 118 pass deflections and 17 interceptions.
