Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil says coach DeMeco Ryans has brought a whole new vibe to the Houston Texans.

HOUSTON — Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil had a lot to say during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show Friday afternoon. Tunsil became the latest to praise rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud after a successful outing during mandatory minicamp in June. The two-day training session marked the first time Tunsil played alongside Stroud, who took first-team reps over his predecessor Davis Mills

But the mandatory practices at the Houston Methodist Training Center also gave Tunsil his first glimpse into DeMeco Ryans as coach of the Texans. According to Tunsil, Ryans has brought "a whole new vibe" to NRG Stadium.

"DeMeco came in with that energy he brought from San Francisco and just changed the whole vibe around the building, and that's something that we needed," Tunsil said. "So DeMeco comes in the building, he brought some new coaches, we've got some new players. Man, it's just a whole new vibe that's in that building. It feels great to be there."

Tunsil credited his excitement for Ryans due to the "rut" the franchise has been in over the past three years.

When he first arrived in Houston in a trade from the Miami Dolphins in August 2019, the Texans were a playoff-caliber team that won 10 games and advanced to the Divisional Round of the postseason. But since embarking on a rebuild following their 51-31 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Texans have won 11 games over the previous three seasons.

The 2023 campaign may end with the Texans missing the postseason for the fourth consecutive year. But Tunsil believes Ryans' first season at the helm will be enough to re-establish a winning culture in Houston. ... a culture driven by DeMeco's "vibe.''
