Texans Down Two Offensive Linemen vs. Steelers?

Will the Houston Texans be without Laremy Tunsil and Josh Jones during their Week 4 contest against the Steelers?

HOUSTON — Pro Bowler Laremy Tunsil is on the verge of missing his third consecutive game. He was a non-participant during the Houston Texans' first practice ahead of their Week 4 contest against the 2-1 Pittsburgh Steelers at NRG Stadium Sunday at noon.

Tunsil is currently battling through a knee injury. And according to Coach DeMeco Ryans, he continues to express that his starting left tackle is day-to-day.

"Laremy, we will see where he is as he goes throughout the week," Ryans said. "We will see where he is."

The Texans' offensive line had a shaky start to the season. But during Sunday's 37-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the o-line kept the pocket clean for rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Despite giving up four quarterback hits, the offensive line did not give up a sack against the Jaguars. The depleted offensive line gave up 19 hits and 11 sacks during their first two games of the season.

The offensive line must find a way to stay consistent with their production against Pittsburgh. The Steelers are coming to Houston after recording 13 sacks through the first three games. Former Defensive Player of the Year winner T.J. Watt (2021) has accounted for six.

"We have our hands full this week with Watt and [Alex] Highsmith," Ryans said. They are two premiere pass rushers and have caused problems for a lot of offenses in this league. The Steelers have always been known for having great defenses. We are up for the challenge."

Josh Jones, who has started in place of Tunsil, played a significant role in helping the Texans improve their offensive line in Jacksonville. He finished Week 3 with a pass protection grade of 65.7, per Pro Football Focus.

However, Jones missed Wednesday's practice due to a hand injury. The wounded hand could force Jones to remain on the sideline against the Steelers. Aaron Willson of KPRC was the first to report.
