Texans Legend WR Andre Johnson Looks To Make Hall of Fame At NFL Honors
LAS VEGAS -- C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. might up for hardware Thursday night, but former Houston Texans star receiver Andre Johnson is up for immortality.
The NFL will announce the 2024 Hall of Fame Class during the two-hour broadcast that airs on NFL Network and CBS starting at 8 p.m.
Stroud and Anderson are up for Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year, respectively, while Ryans is up for Coach of the Year after guiding Houston to a seven-win turnaround and a divisional title. Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is also up for Assistant Coach of the Year after helping Stround lead the NFL in passing yards per game (285.5) and touchdown-to-interception ratio (23-5).
Drafted third overall in 2003, Johnson played 12 seasons for the Texans before finishing his career with a year apeice with the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans. He remains Houston's all-time leader in receptions (1,012), yards (13,597) and receiving touchdowns (64).
Johnson is currently one of 15 finalists for the Hall of Fame. Those finalists are whittled down to 10 and then five. Those five remaining finalists must receive 80 percent of the vote to gain
The induction ceremony will be held on August 3 in Canton, Ohio. Johnson is currently on the ballot for the third time and is a first-time finalist after being a semifinalist in back-to-back years.

Other names up for the Hall of Fame ballot include first-year candidates Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Willie Anderson, Jahri Evans, Dwight Freeney, Antonio Gates, Rodney Harrison, Devin Hester, Julius Peppers, Fred Taylor, Patrick Willis and Darren Woodson.
Fellow receivers Reggie Wayne and Torry Holt are also up for garneration after being on the ballot for multiple years.
