Houston Texans Two-Game Win Streak Ends vs. Falcons

Can the Houston Texans extend their winning streak to three Sunday against the Falcons?
In this story:

The Houston Texans are riding a two-game winning streak behind the play of rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. But the Atlanta Falcons are having a different experience with Desmond Ridder under center.

Ridder finished his rookie year showing promise after taking the starting job from veteran Marcus Mariota. But four games into the season, the second-year quarterback has struggled.

Ridder has thrown for 744 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. The Texans are facing a quarterback in the midst of a sophomore slump Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. But coach DeMeco Ryans understands the challenges Ridder can still cause.

"I think just how he’s operating the offense, [he’s] still a young player who is getting comfortable," Ryans said. "I think he just still needs time to grow and improve, but he’s doing a really good job of putting the ball where it needs to be and getting it into his playmakers' hands.

"What they’ve done there in Atlanta is they’ve surrounded him with a ton of playmakers, so it’s not just on the quarterback, there’s a lot of playmakers he [Desmond Ridder] can get the ball to. Tight ends, wide receivers, the [running] backs – a lot of dynamic playmakers that surround Ridder, and they’ve done a really good job."
