Houston Texans Locked in Defensive Battle After One Half vs. Carolina Panthers
Looking to string together consecutive wins for the second time this season, the Houston Texans entered their third straight matchup with an NFC South opponent on Sunday.
This time, they traveled east to Charlotte to take on the 0-6 Carolina Panthers.
And after one half of play, the Texans have found themselves with a lead, however slight it may be, holding a 7-6 halftime edge over the Panthers heading into the locker room.
The lone Texans score came from the unlikeliest of places as well, with fullback/tight end Andrew Beck taking just his second offensive touch of the year into the end zone for a one-yard touchdown.
The Panthers would answer near the end of the first half, however, with Carolina rookie QB Bryce Young hitting seldom-used tight end Tommy Tremble for the one-yard touchdown, cutting into the Texans lead.
Carolina would miss the point after attempt, however, resulting in the 7-6 Houston Lead.
Through the first two quarters of play, Houston has been led by their defense, which has held Carolina to just 131 yards of total offense, including just 16 yards on the ground.
Meanwhile, offensively, C.J. Stroud has been the main cog for Houston, completing 10 of his 14 passes for 75 yards.
Thanks to a pair of Carolina sacks, however, the Texans have managed just 103 yards of total offense themselves.
The Texans will hope to find a solution for their offensive struggles heading into the second half, as they look for their second-straight win.
The Panthers will receive the ball to start the second half.
