Texans Ex Lonnie Johnson Jr. Taking Free Agency Visit in NFC
The Seattle Seahawks missed out on potentially signing Darius Slay after he surprisingly got things reworked with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday night.
But the Seahawks aren't done trying to add to their budding secondary.
Per reports from ESPN, Seattle is hosting former Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans defensive back Lonnie Johnson Jr. for a visit on Thursday.
Johnson Jr., a second-round pick by the Texans out of Kentucky in 2019, has received steady playing time over the last couple of seasons, proving he's a valuable depth piece along the way.
Appearing in no fewer than 14 games during his Texans career, Johnson Jr. still played in 12 games this past season for the Titans while receiving a few healthy DNPs.
But maybe the Seahawks have taken a look at his production from 2021 as a reason to feel optimistic about him taking on an increased role this fall.
That season, Johnson Jr. finished with a career-best three interceptions, which still accounts for all of his career picks so far.
He could be a versatile piece for Seattle that contributes on special teams along with providing depth at corner. But his visit to the Pacific Northwest will have to go well for any of this speculation to come to fruition.
