Texans Offer to Saquon Barkley Revealed

The Houston Texans missed out on Saquon Barkley, with the star running back signing a massive deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has agreed to a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, potentially reaching $46.75M, with $26M guaranteed at signing, according to reports.

The $15.83 million per year deal would make him the second-highest-paid running back in NFL history, trailing only San Francisco's Christain McCaffrey's price of $16 million.

While the Houston Texans were considered a finalist, their offer was nowhere near that ballpark.

According to ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime, the Texans offered the two-time All-Pro rusher as three-year deal at $33 million, making his annual salary around roughly $11 million.

Barkley has reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark in three of his six NFL seasons. Falling just 38 yards short in 2023, he ended his sixth season with the Giants totaling 962 yards on 247 carries and six touchdowns.

Additionally, Barkley showcased his versatility in the passing game, hauling in 46 receptions for 280 yards and four touchdowns last season.

With Barkley no longer an option, the Texans are likely to focus on keeping incumbent starter Devin Singletary.

Sources have told TexansDaily.com that Houston is keen on retaining him for another season. Singletary, 26, previously mentioned his desire to play for a team on the rise with a strong fan base, but salary negotiations will play a significant role in his decision.

Last season in Houston, Singletary rushed for 898 yards and four scores on 216 attempts, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.
