NFL Draft: Texans Land 'Best Quarterback' in Latest Mock from Daniel Jeremiah
The Houston Texans should have at least two quarterbacks on top of their big board by the time the NFL Draft rolls around.
On top will be the guy they want, but the second name will be the quarterback they're still comfortable with even if their primary target isn't available.
That's the smartest way to stack the top of the Texans' board. Prepare for the worst, and hope for the best.
According to Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft at NFL.com, however, Houston will get their top guy, after surely sweating a few bullets waiting for the Chicago Bears to use their first pick.
And that guy is Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young.
"Young is the best quarterback in the class," says Jeremiah. "I'll think he'll fit beautifully with the Texans as they try to work their way up in the AFC South."
Of course, as has been the case all mock draft season, the Texans aren't done and come back on the clock at No. 12.
Here, we've seen experts mock different players to Houston at varying positions. But when it's a receiver, it's almost always been TCU's, Quentin Johnston.
Not this time though, as Jeremiah goes receiver, but it's USC's, Jordan Addison.
"Houston instantly adds some firepower for No. 2 overall pick Bryce Young," Jeremiah says. "The selection of Addison, along with the return of John Metchie III, would give the receiving corps a huge boost."
A big boost, indeed.
It would be hard not to get excited about the Texans' future with this haul in the first round.
Even with other talented players like Clemson defensive lineman Bryan Bresee, and Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud and offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. joining the AFC South Division along with them.
