Texans 'Mystery' On QBs Will Levis & CJ Stroud vs. DEs at No. 2 ... Solved?

Do the Texans prefers the defensive ends (Will Anderson and Tyree Wilson) over the QBs (C.J. Stroud and Will Levis) at No. 2 in the NFL Draft?
In this story:

The Houston Texans are operating on the assumption that the Carolina Panthers will select Alabama star quarterback Bryce Young with the first-overall pick in this NFL Draft. ... and we continue to operate on the assumption that had the Texans not foolishly won that meaningless Colts game in the 2022 regular-season finale, Bryce would've been Houston's top choice.

So ... what now? The Texans sit in the No. 2 slot, and as TexansDaily.com reported last week, have a head coach in DeMeco Ryans who prefers the defensive ends (Will Anderson and Tyree Wilson) over the QBs (C.J. Stroud and Will Levis). And we now think the Texans might be taking the lead from their coach here by picking a defensive end.

The Texans may have some affection for Stroud at some level; they also own pick No. 12. Meanwhile, there are are rumors about the Texans taking the Kentucky quarterback Levis high; that's contrary to what we've been told.

Maybe Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker is a viable candidate well after No. 2. per sources. But Alabama edge-rusher Anderson is a fairly "sure-fire'' bet as an NFL prospect. And maybe the Texas Tech product Wilson is right there with him.

GM Nick Caserio has done a solid job smoke-screening Houston's intentions, this week saying, “Anything is possible.'' And while that is largely true, the Texans' selection of a defensive end at No. 2 seems the most possible.
