NFL Draft Grades: Texans Receive Strong Marks for 2023 Class
The 2023 NFL Draft was one that the Houston Texans needed to nail. By most accounts, Nick Caserio, DeMeco Ryans and company did just that.
Houston ultimately made nine selections -- including taking C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson with the No. 2 and No. 3 picks, respectively -- in what could prove to be a franchise-altering class.
Here's a look at how the Texans' class has been viewed nationally.
Reuter generally believes that the Texans did well in the NFL Draft, though he does note that Anderson "will need to be to justify the heavy trade price tag" Houston paid to move up from No. 12 to No. 3 to select him.
Davis also notes that giving up two first-round picks, a second-round pick and a third-round pick is a ton to acquire any player, but seems bullish on the effect that Anderson, Stroud and the entire class will have on an organization desperate to change their culture.
Arthur gives the qualifier about the trade for Anderson costing a pretty penny but concludes by noting that the Texans now have long-term answers at quarterback and edge rusher, a good foundation to start building with.
On top of Stroud and Anderson, PFF sees quite a bit to like about wide receiver Nathaniel Dell, EDGE Dylan Horton and linebacker Henry To'oTo'o.
