Texans Draft Rumors: Will Levis Now Favored To Be No. 2 Overall Pick
A quarterback is currently the favorite to be the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but it's not C.J. Stroud.
According to Draft Kings, former Kentucky quarterback Will Levis now has the best odds to be selected with the second pick, which belongs to the Houston Texans. At the time of publication, Levis has -140 odds to go No. 2 overall.
After transferring from Penn State, Levis threw 43 touchdown passes to 23 interceptions in two seasons at Kentucky. Following an inconsistent collegiate career, The Draft Network has Levis ranked as the No. 33 prospect in this year's class, but says "He's a high-ceiling prospect with a diverse set of NFL outcomes." They go on to say that while Josh Allen and Justin Herbert were prospects with similar scouting reports, so too were Carson Wentz and Jake Locker.
It is fair to wonder whether part of Levis being the favorite to go with the second pick is the idea that the Texans could trade down. The division-rival Indianapolis Colts have the No. 4 pick, and according to Peter Schrager of NFL Media, there's buzz that Chris Ballard and company have an interest in Levis. General manager Nick Caserio Also didn't rule out making a trade with another AFC South team when discussing the topic last week.
Tyree Wilson -- a pass rusher who had 27.5 tackles for a loss over his final two seasons at Texas Tech -- has the second-best odds to go No. 2 overall, as he's currently listed at +225. And given the Texans' new defensive-minded head coach, Wilson seemingly feels more like a fit with the Texans than Levis.
