Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud Reveals Areas of Improvement Since Week 1
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has certainly caught the eye of the NFL during his rookie season, but there are plenty of areas to improve upon, in his mind.
Stroud recently spoke with the media where he was asked what he has improved on and discussed parts of his game that still need work as the calendar shifts to Week 9 of the NFL season.
“Honestly, there’s so many things, I don’t know if I can just boil it down to one,” Stroud said. “It’s been a battle every week of just not only trying to get the footwork down and trying to get this offense better, in-tune with my mind, just trying to get it down pat to where I can just remember it and go out and play fast.”
Part of the growth of any rookie quarterback is adjusting to life in the NFL as opposed to college football. Stroud was certainly successful in his time playing with the Ohio State Buckeyes, but the NFL is a different animal, one that has taken some getting used to under center.
“I always say, that was probably the biggest step I’ve taken from college to OTAs to training camp to now is just being a better pro when it comes to quarterback play and just trying to be veteran-minded of getting my guys in the right position to make plays and things like that,” Stroud said.
Stroud and the Texans fell last week to the previously-winless Carolina Panthers, seeing their record drop to 3-4 overall on the season. They will look to move back to the .500 mark this Sunday when they play host to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Kickoff in that game is set for 12 p.m. CT, and it will be broadcast on CBS.
