Texans WR Tank Dell In One of NFL's 'Best Situations'?

After manifesting his own fate in Houston, the Texans' new receiver Tank Dell may be set up for success with his new team next season.
In this story:

Long before NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell took the podium in Kansas City to announce the start of the 2023 NFL Draft, Houston receiver Tank Dell had already made up his mind.

He didn't just want to be drafted. He wanted to be drafted by the Houston Texans.

"Don't let me leave the city," Dell sent to the team over Instagram DMs in late December, hoping to plant the seed and manifest his eventual landing spot.

Not only did Dell's wish come true, being drafted in the second round by Houston, but he now may be in one of the best situations for a rookie receiver league-wide.

And the season hasn't even begun.

PFF ranked the best situations for rookie receivers to be in ahead of next season, and put Dell at No. 7 behind other rookies like Jordan Addison, Zay Flowers, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. And while he doesn't top the list, there are a lot of positives regarding his new teammates, location and coaching staff.

"Dell had one of the most intriguing landing spots," PFF wrote. "Finding himself in Houston with Nico Collins, John Metchie III and Robert Woods ahead of him on the depth chart, a rookie quarterback in C.J. Stroud and a new offensive coordinator in Bobby Slowik who should bring some elements of the San Francisco 49ers offense to the team."

Houston has a completely new look on offense, defense, and on the sidelines, giving Dell a chance to prove himself immediately without worrying about competing with a coach's favorite, or a quarterback's favorite target.

Not only will he be entering the team in a similar boat as a lot of the Texans' recent acquisitions, but he'll also benefit from the veteran leadership he's getting, especially from a 10-year veteran like Woods.

In his last two seasons with the Cougars, Dell tallied more than 1,300 yards and 29 touchdowns, leading his team in both categories and making him a strong breakout candidate next season.

And with a quarterback in Stroud, who campaigned for Dell himself, the speedy wideout may just find himself in a favorable spot next season.
