Rookie wide receiver Tank Dell using OTAs as a way to get adjusted to playing for the Houston Texans.

HOUSTON — Houston Texans rookie prospect Tank Dell is leaving a great first impression. Dell has already begun building chemistry with quarterback C.J. Stroud. And veteran wide receiver Robert Woods believes the rookie wideout has all the skills to be successful in the NFL despite his smaller stature.

The expectation for Dell appears to rise each passing day of OTAs, where offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik believes the groundwork for a successful rookie campaign has begun.

"Tank comes from a very different offense at Houston. Very productive, efficient, but it’s just a different style to what we’re really doing here," Slowik said. "There’s a bit of a learning curve, and when he’s out on the field, he doesn’t blink. I don’t think anyone has noticed how big of a leap it is because he’s been on it and been working."

Dell has been taking second-team reps during OTA practices. But once he gets accustomed to Houston's offense, it will not be long before Dell plays alongside the presumed starters.

General manager Nick Caserio became enamored with Dell following his prosperous showcase during the Senior Bowl in Alabama. There is no doubt surrounding Dell's on-field productivity. During his final season at the University of Houston, Dell completed 109 catches for 1,398 yards in 2022.

Slowik said Dell has come into voluntary workouts hungry and ready to work, which coincides with the rest of the '23 draft class.

"There's a bit of a learning curve, and when he's out on the field, he doesn't blink," Slowki said. "I don't think anyone has noticed how big of a leap it is because he's been on it, and he's been working."
