The Houston Texans caused some serious shockwaves throughout the 2024 offseason on multiple occasions. Not only did Houston make one of the splashiest free agent signings with pass-rusher Danielle Hunter, but they also acquired former All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

In a blockbuster trade between Houston and the Buffalo Bills, Diggs was shipped out in exchange for a future 2025 second-round pick. For a player many believe still has a few years left in his prime, a surprisingly low price paid by the Texans.

Diggs joining the Texans continues to be viewed by many as one of the biggest moves this offseason. As Ian Valentino of The 33rd Team mentioned, Houston’s new diet trio for quarterback C.J. Stroud could be lethal immediately.

“Its offense needed one more explosive and reliable weapon to help Nico Collins and Tank Dell, but Diggs was a big swing who might not be worth the trouble,” Valentino wrote. “Houston already voided the remaining years of his deal beyond 2024 and gave him a raise for motivation. It won't kill the franchise to lose out on a future 2025 second-round pick if Diggs can't stomach taking a bit of a backseat in the offense.”

Since the Texans voided the final years of Diggs’ contract with this trade, the 30-year-old can enter free agency after one season in Houston. For the Texans’ sake, they hope this is the start of a long-term partnership between Diggs and the organization.

Both teams in the deal received grades below a ‘B,’ though. Valentino gave Houston a B- while the Bills seemingly salary-dumping Diggs led to a C- overall.
