Texans Trade Idea: Could Houston Pursue Eagles' Haason Reddick?
The Houston Texans should be one of the NFL's most active teams this offseason.
With more than $57 million in cap space to utilize, as well as plenty of draft capital, the Texans are well-equipped to fill needs and make a splash throughout the spring.
And Pro Football Focus has an idea of how they can do just that, drawing up a quick trade idea that would send Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher Haason Reddick to the Texans in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick (No. 59 overall).
"Teams looking for a smaller outside linebacker who can get upfield in a hurry and generate quick pressure with good bend around the edge will be calling Philadelphia, and will also probably look to extend Reddick as a part of the arrangement," PFF wrote." If the Houston Texans cannot find a way to retain Jonathan Greenard in free agency, here they pivot to a pass-rush specialist to play opposite Will Anderson Jr."
For the Texans, a move for Reddick would make all the sense in the world. He has been to back-to-back Pro Bowls and recorded four straight double-digit sack seasons, and could be a real impact player in Houston.
In fact, in two seasons with the Eagles, Reddick has started all 34 games he's appeared in while posting 87 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 27 sacks, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and four passes defended.
Is Chiefs Superstar Chris Jones On Texans Free Agency Radar?
Especially considering the impending free agency of Greenard, as well as Derek Barnett and Jerry Hughes, Houston will be in dire need of pass-rush help opposite of Anderson.
That said, the price of a second-round pick could be a little too steep for the Texans to pay for a player who will hit 30 years old around the beginning of next season.
