WATCH: Stefon Diggs Works Out with QB C.J. Stroud and New Houston Texans Teammates
HOUSTON — The Houston Texans have wasted no time trying to get Stefon Diggs acclimated to his new home. The All-Pro wide receiver has been in Houston touring NRG Stadium, which included getting a first-hand look at his locker. He recently paid Jimmie Ward $100,000 to change his jersey number to one.
On Saturday, Diggs spent the evening developing his on-field relationship with quarterback C.J. Stroud and wide receivers Tank Dell and John Metchie III. Streamer Sketch hosted an Instagram Live of the players, which included a one-on-one battle between Diggs and Dell.
The Texans landed Diggs in a trade from the Buffalo Bills Wednesday morning. In exchange, Houston sent a 2025 second-round pick (via the Minnesota Vikings), a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick to Buffalo.
In 65 career games, Diggs recorded 445 catches for 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns — ranking first in each statistical category for the Bills. The trade for Diggs has catapulted the Texans into championship contention, with Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud having an improved wide receiver unit to utilize in the passing game.
Diggs began his career as a fifth-round pick (No. 146 overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft and has established himself as one of the league's top wide receivers. In 2023, Diggs recorded his sixth consecutive season of 1,000 yards.
It marked another Pro Bowl season for the 30-year-old wideout, who appeared in 17 games, the veteran wideout caught 107 balls for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns.
Following the trade, the Texans voided the final three years of Diggs' contract. He will earn $22.5 million for the 2024 season and could become a free agent in 2025.
