'Very Excited!' Texans Will Anderson Jr. Embracing Position Change
There is a lot to love about Will Anderson Jr. coming into the NFL, which is exactly why the Houston Texans gave up such a big haul to trade up to No. 3 overall and select the pass rusher.
However, while Anderson was an outside linebacker at Alabama, he will be changing positions to defensive end in Houston. Despite that, though, the rookie is not worried about the change.
"I'm very excited, however, they want to use me, it's just going to be anything I kind of did at Alabama," Anderson said, according to HoustonTexans.com. "So I'm super excited, but just to do anything they need from me for the team."
Anderson was a prolific pass rusher in college, wreaking havoc in the backfield with ease. In his three seasons at Alabama, he recorded 204 total tackles with 58.5 tackles for loss and 34.5 sacks - including an unreal 2021 season which saw him tally 101 total tackles with 31 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks.
Transitioning from college to the NFL is never easy, especially for Anderson who will be switching positions entering his rookie season. If he can match his production from his Alabama days, though, the Texans will have landed a franchise cornerstone pass rusher to build their defensive front around.
