Injury Report: Texans 'Full Go' For AFC Divisional Round Matchup vs. Ravens
It's all hands on deck for the Houston Texans in Saturday's divisional-round matchup against the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens.
Defensive end Jerry Hughes was the only significant player to appear on Houston's inactive list. Alongside Hughes were tight end Eric Saubert, quarterback Case Keenum, defensive lineman Teair Tart and offensive lineman Nick Broeker.
This means that defensive ends Jonathan Greenard and Will Anderson Jr. are full-go for kickoff at M&T Bank Stadium at 4:30 p.m. Full back Andrew Beck, who missed Thursday's practice with a back injury, is also expected to play.
Anderson and Greenard were always expected to be active despite dealing with lingering injuries. Greenard returned for last week's 45-14 wild-card round win over the Cleveland Browns and recorded three tackles and a pressure.
Anderson, who broke Houston's rookie sack record with seven takedowns during the regular season, recorded three pressures and a sack before halftime against Joe Flacco.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud made history with his 274-yard, three-touchdown performance, becoming just the fourth rookie quarterback to throw for 200-plus yards and three touchdowns in a playoff win. Stroud also became the youngest quarterback since Michael Vick (22) in 2002 to win a playoff game, and the first rookie passer to secure a postseason win since Mark Sanchez in 2009.
"Nobody has said this, but we should have the offensive and defensive rookie of the year," Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said. "Both guys have stepped up big time for us."
For the Ravens, All-Pro cornerback Marlon Humphrey (calf) and receiver/return man Tylan Wallace (knee) were ruled out Thursday before Houston's travel day. Veteran Ronald Darby is expected to start in place of Humphrey. Two-time Pro Bowl Devin Duvernay will likely return as the team's return man and No. 3 receiver.
Duvernay was activated off injured reserve Friday after missing the final four regular-season games with a back injury.
Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews remains on the injured reserve despite returning to practice this week in preparation for being cleared. Andrews suffered an ankle injury on Nov. 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Baltimore initially thought Andrews had suffered a season-ending injury but then gave him "an outside chance" to return for the playoffs.
Andrews, who has been MVP favorite Lamar Jackson's favorite target since being drafted in 2018, did not play in the Ravens' season-opening win over Houston back in September. He is expected to be activated for next week's AFC championship game should Baltimore advance.
Houston still must been keen on prepping against tight end play. Second-year pass-catcher Isaiah Likely has taken control in Andrews' absence. Since Week 12, Likely has led the Ravens in receiving yards (322) and touchdown receptions (five).
Andrews OUT? Ravens Not Expected to Play Star Tight End vs. Texans
For the season, Likely has totaled 30 receptions for 411 yards and five scores.
Other inactives for the Ravens include inside linebacker Del'Shawn Phillips (shoulder), offensive lineman Sala Aumavae-Laulu, center Sam Mustipher, and quarterback Malik Cunningham.
Josh Johnson is the designated No. 3 quarterback with Tyler Huntley active as the backup to Jackson.
