'Complete B.S.!' NFL Execs Rip Leaking Of C.J. Stroud S2 Test
Despite the narrative surrounding his S2 score before last year's NFL Draft, Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud excelled in his rookie season.
He was so good, in fact, that he won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and has found himself in the early discussion to be next year's MVP.
Even still, it appears league executives aren't happy with the idea that Stroud's score was leaked to the public, with one anonymous GM ripping his constituents, and telling The Athletic that it was purposefully leaked to satisfy another executive's agenda.
"It was complete B.S. that it was leaked, but people in our league can't help themselves," one GM told The Athletic
"I think it was thrown out there by a team that had their own goals and wanted to use it to put him down and gloat on what they wanted seen," a different GM told The Athletic.
Stroud, of course, scored an 18 out of 100 on the test ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft - resulting - at least in some part - in the decision for the Panthers to pick Bryce Young at No. 1.
Fortunately for the Texans, Stroud fell to No. 2. And despite the controversy surrounding his score, he was able to prove the narrative wrong, leading the Texans to an AFC South title and a playoff win while having one of the most historic statistical rookie seasons in NFL history.
As a result of all of that, it has now been advised for players to avoid taking the S2 test altogether.
Texans' C.J. Stroud Makes Cognitive Test Irrelevant for Draft Prospects
That said, it remains concerning that the information was leaked in general, allowing an outside factor to influence the draft, as well as the league's future.
Either way, the Texans came out of the situation on top, however, and Stroud is now the cornerstone of the franchise and a future face of the NFL.
