Texans Remain in Middle of NFL Power Rankings Following Week 16
The Houston Texans suffered a difficult loss to the Cleveland Browns on Christmas Eve, serving a blow to their playoff hopes in the AFC.
With Week 16 of the NFL season behind us, where do the Texans land in the latest installment of the league's power rankings?
According to USA Today, Houston comes in at No. 13 on the list, directly behind the Seattle Seahawks and ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"The 9-8 record they're trending toward this year has essentially exceeded all expectations," USA Today wrote. "And could well upgrade to 10-7 with an AFC South title if rookie wunderkind C.J. Stroud can recover from his concussion and get this offense back on track."
While all hope is not lost for the Texans reaching the postseason, their mathematical odds of doing so took a hit following Sunday's loss. According to NFL.com, Houston, which currently holds the No. 8 spot in the AFC, has a 37-percent chance to reach the playoffs this season after Week 16.
Searching For Stroud: Texans Need QB Back For Playoff Push
This has, of course, been impacted by multiple injuries on the Texans' roster, especially quarterback C.J. Stroud who has missed back-to-back weeks in concussion protocol.
The Texans are scheduled to host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at NRG Stadium, and kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT on FOX.
