Why is Will Anderson Jr. So Confident in Texans' Future?

The Houston Texans took a major leap in 2023, and Will Anderson Jr. thinks they could be even better in 2024.
In this story:

HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Texans took a huge leap in 2023.

After finishing 3-13-1 last season, the Texans ushered in a new head coach in DeMeco Ryans, a new quarterback in C.J. Stroud, and a wealth of new talent - including star rookie edge rusher Will Anderson Jr.

As a result, not only did the Texans improve, but they defied expectations, winning the AFC South and a Wild Card playoff game along the way.

And according to Anderson Jr., they are only going to get better from here.

Will Anderson Jr.

“I don’t think people understand how much better we’re going to be next year,” Anderson said. “It’s so easy to come into this place and really just connect with the guys in here and be able to come into the culture that’s been built here and how to operate throughout that culture. It’s all just mindset and mentality.”

Anderson's not wrong either. In terms of the young talent already on the roster, the Texans are in as good of a position as anyone else in the NFL.

Yes, everyone already knows about Stroud and Anderson.

But from the wide receiver duo of Tank Dell and Nico Collins, to the secondary tandem of Derek Stingly and Jalen Pitre, and other young up-and-comers like Dameon Pierce, John Metchie, and Christian Harris, it is no wonder why Anderson has so much confidence.

Not only does Houston have that treasure trove of young talent and a solid group of key veterans, but they also possess something that every team in the NFL needs to help build for the future - versatility.

The Texans currently sit with an estimated $57 million in cap space heading into the offseason, along with eight draft picks to help add to the roster.

In other words, the Texans have all the options they could need heading into the offseason.

And the sky is the limit.
