NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans stuck at pick 11 and selected Peter Skoronski out of Northwestern to add to their offensive line. Skoronski is a perfect fit for the Titans based on where their offensive line currently is and the type of offense the Titans like to run.

First and foremost, the versatility that Skoronski provides is key. The Titans added Andre Dillard in free agency who has the ability to play left tackle or left guard. Skoronski, despite concerns about arm length, has the ability to play tackle like he did for three years in college or guard like most draft pundits projected. That means the Titans can truly play the best combination no matter which guy plays where.

Secondly, Skoronski plays with a nasty streak that fits the Titans’ personality on offense and as a team in general. Skoronski is a finisher who wants to bury his man in the dirt. He flies off the snap with bad intentions and is able to push people around. Regardless of what position he lines up at, Skoronski should fit what the Titans are looking for from a mentality standpoint.

Lastly, Skoronski is going to fit perfect in the scheme. While he has a thick and sturdy frame, Skoronski has excellent mobility. He will be able to execute the combination blocks the Titans use on their zone runs and get up to the second level to attack linebackers. The Titans have been mixing in power runs into the offense over the last two years and Skoronski has the power necessary to execute those plays as well.

In pass protection, Skoronski has great anchor ability and is able to lower his center of gravity to hold his ground against bull rushers. He has quick, but patient hands to negate pass rush moves use against him. It isn’t only the physical side of things, the mental aspect is off the charts for Skoronski. He is able to adjust to twists and stunts by the defensive line and quickly makes adjusts to handle whatever comes his way.

The Titans may not have made a flashy pick to start the 2023 NFL draft, but they got a player they can count on to get the job done for years to come. Skoronski can fit at multiple positions for the Titans and considering the current state of the offensive line, that talent, versatility and fit could not be more exciting.
