5 Intriguing Prospects From the 2024 NFL Combine the Tennessee Titans Could Target
Several prospects stood out at the 2024 NFL Combine last week. A few players — such as Texas receiver Xavier Worthy and Houston offensive tackle Patrick Paul — might fit well with the Tennessee Titans organization.
In this story:
After spending six days in Indianapolis for the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, coach Brian Callahan, general manager Ran Carthon, and Tennessee Titans scouts will have a lot to discuss. Several players emerged as potential fits for the organization.
Yes, offensive tackles Joe Alt and Olu Fashanu and wide receiver Rome Odunze are still possible first-round picks. But what will Tennessee do in the later rounds?
Here are a few intriguing players that caught our attention at the NFL Scouting Combine.
- WR Xavier Worthy, Texas
Both coach Brian Callahan and general manager Ran Carthon talked about the importance of adding speed and playmaking ability to the roster, particularly through the draft. Worthy broke the NFL Scouting Combine's record for fastest time in the 40-yard dash, posting a 4.21-second time. The Titans could use a speedy receiver, especially if he's available in the second round.
- OL Patrick Paul, Houston
Yes, Joe Alt and Olu Fashanu are likely options 1a and 1b for the Titans at the offensive tackle position. But, if they change course and select a wide receiver in the first round, Paul makes a lot of sense as a second-round selection for Tennessee. At the NFL Combine, Paul told reporters that he believes he's the best pass protector in the class. He also has a background in martial arts, which speaks to his versatility.
- WR Malik Washington, Virginia
Washington talked about making an immediate impact on the field in the NFL. That's exactly the type of mentality Tennessee needs at the position. Washington was graded as a "winner" of the NFL Combine by CBS Sports, clocking a 4.47 time in the 40-yard dash and recording a 42.5-inch vertical jump. Washington was great at moving the sticks at Virginia, with 56 of his 110 receptions resulting in first downs.
- CB Khyree Jackson, Oregon
Cornerback isn't a top priority for Tennessee like offensive line or wide receiver, but Jackson could be a nice fit if available at a later stage in the draft. The former Oregon defensive back has a lot of swagger and believes he can line up across from any receiver. Jackson broke up seven passes and hauled in three interceptions for the Ducks last season.
- RB/WR Tyrone Tracy Jr., Purdue
Tracy hasn't been a popular name on draft boards but he could be a low-risk, high-reward type of player. He moved between wide receiver and running back throughout his college career at Iowa and Purdue. Tracy may not be an every-down back for the Titans, but he could serve as a Swiss Army knife in the Tennessee offense.
