NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans kicked off the 2023 NFL draft with the selection of Peter Skoronski. Taking the talented offensive lineman out of Northwestern fills a need for the Titans in the trenches and gives them a reliable player who has the potential to be a long-term starter.

There are a few things you can count on in life. Death, taxes and way-too-early draft grades are on the list. Every year grades are given out immediately after the picks are made. The reason is, grades are fun. Let's have some fun ourselves and see what grades were given out around the football world for the Titans pick of Skoronski.

Chad Reuter, NFL.com - A

Analysis: Tennessee needed to get stronger along the interior O-line after seeing multiple veterans depart this offseason. Skoronski can play left tackle, too, if free-agent addition Andre Dillard isn’t the answer. I figured throughout the draft process that the Titans would have interest in the former Wildcat, whose strength at the point of attack and nimble feet in space will help make sure the run game is as prolific as ever.

Pete Prisco, CBSSports.com - B

Analysis: The Titans need a ton of help on their offensive line. Skoronski is a physical, tough guy who will help up front. He's a Mike Vrabel type of player. He played tackle in college, but I think he might end up as an All-Pro guard.

Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News - A

Analysis: The Titans passed on a quarterback early to address another big need after moving on from long-time Taylor Lewan. They get an explosive athlete who’s a natural for pass protection but also sound with his feet in run blocking to help their offense well all-around.

Pro Football Focus  - Elite

Analysis - The big question is whether Skoronski will play tackle or guard at the next level. He played tackle in 2022, though, and had a tremendous season. As Northwestern’s starting left tackle this past season, he allowed just six total pressures on 474 pass-blocking snaps.

Scott Dochterman, The Athletic - A-minus

Analysis: Tennessee really needed an offensive lineman after limping to the finish line last year. Skoronski is the perfect fit for the Titans, whether it’s at guard or tackle.

Danny Kelly, The Ringer - A-plus

Analysis: This is a smart, down-the-fairway pick for the Titans, who need to restock the shelves on the offensive line. I love the value Tennessee gets here on my sixth-ranked player overall. Skoronski gives Tennessee a plug-and-play starter either at left tackle or guard. It’s not super sexy, but the Titans just got better.

Generally speaking the reaction to the Titans' pick has been positive. While that may not count for much on the field, it is at least a positive sign that the Titans made a smart move that has a high probability of working out. That's all you can ask for with where the team is currently.
