Less Than a Week Before the NFL Draft, We Found the Worst Titans Mock Draft Ever

NASHVILLE — Imagine a Tennessee Titans’ seven-round mock draft that doesn’t have a wide receiver, spends more picks on defense than offense and uses their first pick on an offensive lineman most don’t expect to go until late first round. If you wanted to see the worst mock draft the Titans could have, boy do I have one for you.
Chad Reuter of NFL.com put out a recent seven-round mock draft and with all due respect to the work he puts in, this is truly a disaster for the Titans. Now, it is hard to have a good grasp on every roster in the NFL and difficult to have a full understanding of a team’s needs when you don’t cover that team full time, but this mock draft appears as if Reuter was actively trying to get the Titans selections wrong. Let’s take a look at them.
Round 1, Pick 11: O’Cyrus Torrence, Guard, Florida
Round 2, Pick 41: Keion White, Edge, Georgia Tech
Round 3, Pick 72: Isaiah Foskey, Edge, Notre Dame
Round 5, Pick 147: Payne Durham, Tight End, Purdue
Round 6, Pick 186: Myles Brooks, Cornerback, Louisiana Tech
Round 7, Pick 228: Kenny McIntosh, Running Back, Georgia
Oof. Where to even begin. Well, first pick first, if the Titans select O’Cyrus Torrence over every other linemen in the NFL draft then Ran Carthon should be fired before the offseason ends. Luckily, that won’t happen. Carthon wouldn’t do that. One, Torrence is a late first, second round talent. Second, he does not fit the Titans scheme in anyway as his movement skills aren’t where they need to be to execute in a zone scheme even if he is incredibly powerful.
Look, an offensive lineman in the first round, even if the player makes no sense, at least it is a position that does. Boy, once we get to the middle rounds though, the wheels fall entirely off. The Titans take back-to-back edge players in rounds two and three. With Harold Landry coming back from injury, Rashad Weaver going into year three and Arden Key just signed as a free agent, this is negligence. The only theory is Reuter forgot who he selected for the Titans in the previous round. If the Titans come out of the first two days of the draft with two edge rushers, an investigation needs to happen.
The end of the draft is a little more comprehensible. The Titans need a tight end and Payne Durham is a fit. The Titans have been interested in corners according to their visits in the pre-draft process so I understand that pick too. McIntosh would be a good compliment to Henry because of his skills catching the ball out of the backfield. However, when you haven’t taken a receiver at all so far, it makes not selecting one at all close to an international war crime.
It is silly season in the NFL and it seems mock drafts get more unrealistic by the second. This is good news for Titans fans because you have to pray to whatever god you follow that this is not a realistic outcome for the Titans. So, congratulations Chad Reuter, you have officially crafted the worst Titans’ mock draft of the season.
