INDIANAPOLIS — Anyone who wanted to hear Marvin Harrison Jr. speak at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine was sadly disappointed on Friday. The former Ohio State star and the top wide receiver prospect in the NFL Draft skipped out on his media availability.

Harrison was initially scheduled to speak at 8:20 a.m. ET on Friday. He's considered the top wide receiver in this year's draft class and is a projected top-five selection.

Friday was the only day anyone would get a chance to speak with Harrison about the upcoming draft. He has also declined to participate in drills at the Combine. Receivers, quarterbacks, and running backs are scheduled to work out Saturday afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Tennessee Titans are in the market for a wide receiver and will probably select at least one in the April 25-27 NFL Draft. But it's extremely unlikely that Harrison would be available at No. 7 — where the Titans are currently picking in the first round.

It's not unusual for a player of Harrison's caliber to decline the workout at the combine. With a top-five draft status, he has far more to lose than to gain by participating. But passing on media availability is unusual.

Harrison finished the 2023 season at Ohio State with 67 catches for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns. He finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

The Ohio State receiver played in all 12 regular season games but opted out of playing in the Cotton Bowl Game against Missouri.

In his three seasons with the Buckeyes, Harrison piled up 155 receptions for 2,613 yards and 31 touchdowns.

While his decision to skip media availability was an interesting one, it will likely have no impact on his draft status come April 25.
