NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans continue to be linked to quarterbacks in the 2023 NFL draft even if it means they have to trade up to do so. According to a recent report by Dane Brugler from the Athletic via Sigmund Bloom of Footballguys.com, the Titans have been making “a lot” of calls to try and get into the top six picks of the draft. Presumably, it would be to take a quarterback.

Bloom tweeted on Wednesday that he had Brugler on his show “The Audible” and Brugler indicated the Titans have been trying to get into the top six picks. While the audio of the show was not yet posted as of the writing of this article, Bloom’s tweet expressing this can be seen below.

You could of course choose to view this as more smoke during lying season in the NFL, but the Titans have been publicly all over the top quarterbacks during the pre-draft process. Decision makers for the team have been at all of the pro days and meetings or visits have taken place with the top guys. Even if you don’t believe the trade rumors, the evidence is clear, the Titans are interested.

One recent rumor makes it even more likely that the Titans calling about a top-six pick is true. We are starting to hear that the Texans may not be looking to draft a quarterback at pick two and will instead opt for a defensive player. If Houston does this, it could start a chain reaction that could lead to the Titans moving up.

If interest in this year’s quarterbacks is not as high as the original consensus opinion, then we could see passers start to slide. Certainly, Indianapolis would take a passer at four, but after that teams like the Las Vegas Raiders(Pick Seven) and the Atlanta Falcons(Pick Eight) could be options for quarterbacks. That is why the Titans looking to get into the top six picks makes sense. The Titans could look to leap the Raiders or Falcons to get a quarterback in front of them.

As we get closer to the draft, more rumors will start to fly. Whether you choose to believe them or not is up to you, but based on the interest the Titans have shown in these young passers and the logic behind needing to be in the top six, this rumor appears to have some fire behind the smoke.
