Seven Rounds For Titans From The Athletic's Dane Brugler

Another day and another mock draft to sift through. This one has seven rounds of draft preview fun.

NASHVILLE - The Athletic's Dan Brugler released a new seven-round mock draft on Monday morning, and he, like many others, has the Tennessee Titans selecting an unpopular target in round one.

Brugler has the Titans selecting Will Levis, the Kentucky quarterback, who most fans have seen mocked to their team far too much during this cycle at No.11. Levis is a talented guy with a strong arm and high upside. Still, the question is, can he develop touch on his passes? He is a work in progress with a high potential to fail to produce at a first-round level.

At least this mock doesn't have the Titans trading up to get him.

As for the other Titans selections in this mock draft, I don't think fans will like most of it.

In round two, with the 41st pick, the Titans select Cody Maugh, OL, North Dakota State. Here's what Brugler said of this selection.

The Titans need help at tackle, guard and center, and Mauch has the skill set to chip in at all three positions and the competitive toughness that head coach Mike Vrabel values. Mauch is a better prospect than his former Bison teammate and current Titans lineman Dillon Radunz.

In round three, with the 72cd pick, the Titans land the best player of their draft class in Ole Miss receiver Jonathan Mingo.

At 6'2", 220 lbs, with a 4.46 forty, Mingo is an excellent fit for the Titans. He has been compared to former Rebels and Titans receiver AJ Brown.

The Titans stay in the SEC with their next pick, selecting Tyrus Wheat, a new name to be associated with the Titans. Wheat put up some interesting numbers at the combine, measuring in at 6'2", 263 lbs. and ran a 4.65 forty, along with a 28.5 vertical and a 9'5" broad jump.

An All-SEC second-team performer in 2022, Wheat led the Bulldogs with 10.5 tackles for loss with 7.5 sacks in 2021 while also intercepting a pass and breaking up two others as he started all 13 games for State that season. In 2022, WHeat recorded 53 tackles, 10.5 for loss with a team-high six sacks, one interception, and two pass breakups.

In round five, the Titans add help along the offensive line with Notre Dame guard Jarrett Patterson. The 6'5, 306 lbs, Patterson has shorter than ideal arm length and sometimes struggles to stay connected on blocks. Still, it's another player with some ability who could fight for a starting role.

The sixth and final Titans selection in round seven is Anthony Johnson Jr, safety, Iowa State.

At 6'2", 205 lbs, Johnson has the size and posted a 4.54 forty at the combine. His play dipped somewhat in 2022, leaving him as a late-round pick, where the Titans grabbed him in the final round in this mock draft.

There you have it, another Monday, another mock, and a less-than-exciting group, outside of Mingo for Titans fans in this one.
