The Cost Of Trading Up To No.3 Likely Going Up

The time is now if the Tennessee Titans or any other team wants to strike a deal to move up to No.3.

NASHVILLE - The Arizona Cardinals know what they have in the No.3 selection in the upcoming NFL Draft, and for the Tennessee Titans or any other team considering a trade-up to obtain that pick, they should seriously consider doing it now.

The No.1 overall selection belongs to the Carolina Panthers, and it is becoming more and more apparent that they are set to select Bryce Young with that pick.

Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts sit at No.4, and it is widely considered that they are in the market for one of the three remaining quarterbacks. Their division rivals, the Houston Texans have suddenly become the wildcard of round one.

Recent rumors suggest that new head coach Demeco Ryans and general manager Nick Caserio have their hearts set on selecting Alabama pass rusher Will Anderson as the No.2 pick.  If those rumors are true, and the Texans select Anderson, the cost of Arizona's No.3 pick will go through the roof, and the Cardinals brass know it.

If the Texans leave CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis there for the taking ahead of the Colts, some quarterback-starved club could choose to sell the farm to move up for the right to bypass the Colts.

While Arizona is on the clock, doing it during the draft will likely cost much more than having that selection in hand entering round one.

Likewise, trading for No.3 is higher today than it was before the Texans rumor began. While it's unknown where the Texans rumor began, and it could have been the Cardinals themselves who started it, knowing it could drive up the value they currently possess.

Either way, should a team decide it's worth the cost to make this move now or on draft day, they should be prepared to pay a major cost to get there.
