Titans Hosting WR Zay Flowers on Visit as NFL Draft Nears
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans should be in the endgame of their NFL draft preparation as we sit ten days out of the NFL’s biggest offseason event. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, that will include a visit with Zay Flowers, the talented wide receiver out of Boston College.
The Titans are in desperate need of wide receiver help after doing nothing to address the position in free agency despite it being one of the biggest needs on the roster. That decisions would only lead us to believe the Titans will be very aggressive in obtaining wide receivers in the NFL draft. One of the top receivers in the draft is Flowers. Flowers may be a little rich at pick 11 for the Titans, but a potential trade back in the first round or a trade up from the second round to the first could result in Flowers being a selection for the Titans.
Flowers is viewed by some as a slot-only option because of his 5’9” stature, but if the Titans feel he could have value in their more common two receiver looks he could make a ton of sense. Flowers is as competitive as possible and was incredibly productive in college, putting up 200 catches for 3,056 yards and 31 total touchdowns.
As a player, Flowers is incredibly quick and understands how to vary that quickness in his routes. He does an excellent hob of tracking pass down the field and shows a great ability to adjust to throws to make catches other wouldn’t. However, as mentioned earlier, he is a smaller player with shorter arms and it may make it difficult to win at the catch point consistently in the NFL.
Flowers is no lock to be the pick at 11 for the Titans, but it is obvious they are doing their homework to see if he could be an option. With the clock ticking down to draft day, the Titans will continue to try and answer any questions they have about these prospects so they can set themselves up to make the best decisions possible when things kick off in a little over a week.
