Brock Bowers, the three-time All-America tight end for Georgia, told NBC Sports' Chris Simms that he'd prefer to play for the Tennessee Titans. The chance of that happening seems unlikely. The Titans, picking seventh, are expected to draft an offensive lineman.

NASHVILLE — Brock Bowers, the best tight end and one of the top overall prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft class, has serious interest in playing for the Tennessee Titans. The former Georgia standout reportedly told NBC Sports' Chris Simms it's where he wants to start his career.

Bowers is a projected first-round pick on most draft boards, which creates an interesting situation for Tennessee. The team is in desperate need of a left tackle, struggling mightily at the position in 2023.

But Bowers is considered a generational talent at tight end. And the fact that he wants to play for the Titans? It has to be tempting for coach Brian Callahan and general Ran Carthon.

Most mock drafts project the Titans picking Notre Dame All-American offensive tackle Joe Alt with the No. 7 pick in the first round of the draft. Others think Penn State's Olu Fashanu is the better fit in Nashville.

ESPN's Matt Miller, who just released his latest two-round mock draft, has Bowers landing with the New Orleans Saints at No. 14.

Bowers is firmly considered an early first-round selection. It's not as though the Titans could cross their fingers and toes and hope that he falls to the second round, where they might scoop him up at No. 38. That's not happening.

The former Georgia standout might be worth the risk at No. 7. He was a two-time John Mackey Award winner, presented to the top tight end in college football. He was also a member of the Bulldogs' back-to-back national championship teams.

Bowers ended his career in Athens with 175 catches for 2,358 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also scored five rushing touchdowns.

So, while it's seemed like a foregone conclusion that the Titans would select an offensive tackle in the first round, Bowers' interest in Nashville presents an interesting scenario.
