NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans may have made some additions to the linebacker group in free agency in Azeez Al-Shaair and Luke Gifford, but considering the current talent level of the position, the Titans are clearly interested in continuing to add to the linebacker room. According to a report from Ryan Fowler from the Draft Network, the Titans have shown “extensive interest” in Florida Linebacker Ventrell Miller.

Miller played five seasons for the Gators. He made 238 total tackles in 43 games. Miller racked up 7.5 sacks with an interception and a touchdown. Miller enters the NFL Draft as what most consider a mid-round prospect expected to be selected on day two or day three of the draft. Most scouting reports have him as a guy who is limited athletically and in the size department, but is a physical and instinctive player with great experience.

That sounds like the exact kind of player the Titans could be looking for at the position. New Titans’ general manager Ran Carthon had a lot to do with the late-round picks in San Francisco and the 49ers were able to find some solid players in those rounds. Potentially, the instincts and experience of a player like Miller could lead to a lot of opportunity in the Titans’ revamped linebacker group.

The group currently consists of Al-Shaair and Gifford, along with returning players Monty Rice, Chance Campbell and Jack Gibbens. Other than Al-Shaair, no one is a lock to get significant snaps. Rice has as good a chance as any of the returning players to get those snaps, but it is not inconceivable he could be passed on the depth chart by an incoming rookie. Looks like the Titans are willing to see how it goes and could be added to the group in no time.
