Titans Will Do ‘Everything They Can’ to Get Their Quarterback in 2023 NFL Draft per ESPN’s Dianna Russini
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans are less than 24 hours away from the start of the 2023 NFL draft and according to a recent report from ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Titans are preparing themselves to make a trade up the board to secure their quarterback of the future. Russini went into detail on what she has heard from Titans’ general manager Ran Carthon and what she is hearing about the Titans’ selection from around the league on ESPN’s NFL Live.
“In fact, I spoke to some sources around the league, teams like the Arizona Cardinals, who have taken calls from the Tennessee Titans about, perhaps, trading up,” Russini explained. “Now, the players they are going for, Carthon wouldn’t tell you what they are doing, but my sense is the Tennessee Titans have their eyes on a quarterback and they’re going to do everything they can to go get ‘em.”
Russini is one of the most informed media members in NFL ecosystem when it comes to the Titans. She clearly is getting her consistent inside information on Tennessee from someone with some say in the organization’s power structure. So, the fact that she put this out there, while standing at Titans’ headquarters mind you, should hold some weight. It must be pointed out though that Russini did say its was her “sense” this is the Titans’ plan not that it was a guarantee. Russini also discussed her conversations with Carthon and what the Titans are saying publicly.
“I sat with Titans’ new GM Ran Carthon in his office to go over the mood of the building on draft eve as well as try to get more information as to what they are going to do with that pick at eleven and he tells me they are really calm, they’re prepared. In fact, head coach Mike Vrabel and him sat together for two hours and they set their draft board. They are ready to go for Thursday night.”
Russini continued outlining her conversation with Carthon.
“Carthon tells me they’re open to everything. They’re willing to move out, they’re willing to stay.” Finally, Russini said, “They’re also willing to move up.”
Anything and everything you hear this close to the draft should always be taken with a grain of salt, but considering the source it seems we can take the Titans rumored interest as somewhat of a truth. It is more than obvious at this point based on the pre-draft interest in the quarterbacks and all of the smoke, there is a fire. Let’s see if the Titans can take the heat and pull off a big move on Thursday night.
