Dawkins back on practice squad ... for now
Dalyn Dawkins knows as well as anyone that going from the active roster to the practice squad is not necessarily a one-way trip.
The Titans added the running back to the practice squad Thursday, two days after he was waived to make room for an offensive line addition. To make room on the practice squad, quarterback Logan Woodside was moved to the practice squad injury list.
An undrafted rookie in 2018, Dawkins moved between the active roster and the practice squad three times. He ultimately spent six weeks on the active roster and appeared in one game.
He was a surprise inclusion on the initial 53-man roster this season after he led the Titans in rushing yards (152), yards per carry (6.6) and touchdown receptions in the preseason. He was inactive for the regular season opener at Cleveland.
His removal from the 53-man roster means Tennessee has just three running backs available for Sunday’s home-opener against Indianapolis. They are Derrick Henry, Dion Lewis and David Fluellen, whose practice time this week has been limited by a hamstring injury.
